44‑year‑old Ilaisa Vadei from Sawaieke, in Gau says his yaqona farm has helped him to build his 4 bedroom house, which had been his family’s aim for the past years.
Vadei says he has been farming for the past 19 years, where he makes about $10,000 a year.
He says with the help of the governments rural millionaires initiative he got the knowledge on how to expand and increase his yaqona farming income.
Vadei says another good thing about the rural millionaire initiative is that it minimizes and reverses rural to urban drift where young people are seeing the benefits and are putting much effort into becoming a successful person.
