Tailevu Provincial Council Chairman Rusiate Tudravu

Tailevu Provincial Council Chairman Rusiate Tudravu says they have set-up a sub-committee which is tasked to look into number of inmates from Tailevu as the Tailevu Province have the highest number of inmates in Fiji.

Tudravu says this sub-committee is liaising with the Fiji Corrections Services in trying to minimize these numbers.

He adds that when a inmate is released from prison, this sub-committee helps the inmate to be accepted into the community and they also monitor how these inmates can become good members of the community.

Tudravu says they are also having talks about the Solesolevaki Program which was initially set-up by the Fiji Corrections Services so that inmates can become independent after they are released.

Tudravu says they have recently bought two new vehicles to aid the Provincial Council improving their services to the 52 clans that are in the Province of Tailevu.

He adds the funds for the vehicles are from their own budget and this was approved by the committee members.
