Nadi residents begin to move to evacuation centres as result of flooding

Heavy rain continues in Nadi and people are advised to take necessary precautions. 

People have started moving to various evacuation centres in Nadi as many areas are now affected by flood waters.

According to the Nadi District Office, the water level at the Nadi bus stand is three feet.

Flood waters have entered parts of the Nadi market and the Nadi town end area near Nadi Temple.

Police have confirmed that there is three feet of water on Naboutini, Nadele bridge and Masimasi bridge, Sabeto junction is under two feet of water, Sabeto flat is flooded and Sabeto valley road is closed to all traffic.

Navadraga Bridge is under four feet of water, Fasa Avenue, Carreras Rd, Votualevu, Nasoso Road, Waimalika Road and Malawai Bridge in Namaka are also flooded.

Nadi back road is partly closed to traffic, Saravi road is closed while Navo Bridge is under water.

Other areas affected in Nadi with flood water are Nawaka settlement, Nawajikuma settlement, Qeleloa, Waimalika, Sabeto, Barara flats, Togolevusa, Vuniyasi road, San Bruno road, Mate road, Nabila road, Solovi bridge, Qeleloa bridge and Malakua bridge, Navakai, Korovuto and Malolo.
