President Joji Konrote is presented a Chinese calendar by the Chinese community.

President, Jioji Konrote says Fiji has benefited significantly from a unique relationship with the government of China in terms of development projects that are being carried out in Fiji.

While speaking at the Chinese New Year celebrations at Yat Sen primary school today, Konrote says the Chinese community has contributed a lot for the development of Fiji as a nation in many fields, including business and education.

He says given China's ever‑growing position in its remarkable socio‑economic advancements, it is only logical for developing countries like Fiji to look north and cultivate a relationship that is mutually beneficial to both nations.

He adds that the benefits from a strengthening diplomatic relationship with China will trickle down to all the people of Fiji.

The President says this is the year of the monkey which marks the 9th animal in the cycle.

He says the Year of the Monkey is predicted to be a year of change, especially in terms of financial matters where there may be many risks, but accomplishments can be achieved with persistent personal efforts.
