Indian cricket superstar Virat Kohli has been labelled unpatriotic by an MP from India's ruling party after marrying Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma in secret in Italy.
The 29‑year‑old’s wedding to Sharma would have undoubtedly attracted frenetic attention from fans and press in India, so it appears the couple opted to avoid that by getting married at a private ceremony in Tuscany earlier this month.
But Panna Lal Shakya of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said Kohli has disrespected his country by not marrying in India.
Shakya's comments have sparked outrage in India and it's apparent they're not endorsed by the Bharatiya Janata Party after its leader, Indian prime minister Narendra Modi, was pictured with Kohli and Sharma this week to congratulate them on tying the knot.
