Acting Commissioner Central Josefa Navuku says work on the expansion and improvement of the new Namosi Government Station is expected to begin in the new financial year.

Navuku revealed at the Namosi Provincial Council meeting that government also has plans to shift the Namosi Government Station from Navua to the district of Wainikoroiluva in the interior of Namosi.

He says that government will soon begin the development works of the new Namosi Government Station which will be on a piece of land that has an area of about 50 hectares currently leased by Government.

Navuku highlighted that since 4 districts of the province are situated in the interior and only one district near the coast it is more convenient to move the government station inland.

The Commissioner Central also encouraged the business arm of the province to make use of this opportunity to build officers and quarters which can be leased to government.

Navuku explained how this will be a good source of income for the Namosi Provincial Holdings knowing that they have made good investments already.

He adds that they need to have all government services closer to the villages in the interior so that is accessible to the villagers that live there.
