The 45-year-old bus driver involved in the tragic road accident at Lakena Number Two Hill in Nausori on Wednesday afternoon appeared in the Nausori Magistrates Court this morning.
45-year-old Salesh Jattan of Narere, Nasinu has been remanded in custody and the bail hearing will take place next Monday.
Divisional Prosecuting Officer East, Yasin Ali asked the court for Jattan to be remanded in custody as this case is of public and national interest and for Jattan's safety and security.
Jattan also made an application for bail through his lawyer.
He has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death, two counts of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm and a count of dangerous driving.
The bus tumbled down the hill causing the death of two students.
Two other students are still admitted in the hospital in serious condition.
Seventeen other students who were treated for injuries at the hospital and have been sent home.
