95 students of Nakoroboya Primary School in the interior of Ba/Tavua district were full of smiles as the Ministry of Education assisted them with school supplies.

Education Minister Dr. Mahendra Reddy distributed 100 stationery packs, 100 health kits, 100 school bags and 500 exercise books to the students.

While receiving the assistance from the ministry, School Head Teacher Michelle Raqona could not hold back her tears as she say that Reddy was the first Minister to visit the school after Cyclone Winston and the assistance provided by the Government was very much welcomed.

Raqona said four classrooms and two teachers’ quarters were destroyed while the library, school office and Head Teacher's quarters were partially damaged.

Meanwhile, Reddy assured the Head Teacher that the Government will work on improving the state of the schools.

He said the priority area for the Ministry is to see that all schools are functional and are well resourced to continue to provide education.
