A good leader will only be able to earn respect by his or her actions and deeds, rather than threats and commands.
These were the sentiments shared by the Minister for Industry and Trade, Premila Kumar to the 32 students who were today inducted as head prefects, deputy head prefects and prefects at Kulukulu Public School in Sigatoka.
Kumar also stressed to the students that as they become leaders, they are required to lead by example and not by force.
She shared with the student leaders that they have an obligation and a very important role to play in the nurturing and development of their peers who will be assuming the same responsibilities in future.
Kumar also encouraged all the students present that they can aspire to become whatever they want adding that all they need to be is hardworking, committed and honest.
She also touched on the initiative by government that can enable students to reach their full potential at school including the free education initiative, free bus‑fare for those who are eligible and free textbooks for all students.
The Minister for Industry and Trade has also urged the young students to dream big and not to let anyone discourage them from achieving what they want to become in life.
Year 8 students, Kavitesh Karan and Shreeya Lal were inducted as the Head Boy and Head Girl of Kulukulu Public School respectively.
