A 12‑year‑old girl told the Suva High Court this morning that the accused who was a teacher was allegedly masturbating after calling her into the classroom one afternoon in 2012.

The girl is the third prosecution witness in the rape trial of the teacher who is charged with four counts of rape and nine counts of sexual assault of students.

The alleged incidents were committed between 1st January, 2010 to 31st October, 2013 while the accused was serving as a teacher in a school in Nasinu.

The girl told the court that she was a class 6 student and used to be the last to go home because she was the class prefect.

She says that she was going home with a friend one afternoon when the accused had called her inside the classroom.

She says that the accused then called her friend first before calling her inside.

The girl said that the accused was masturbating at the back of the classroom and he asked her to touch his private part.

However, she refused to do that.

She said that she asked her friend on the next day if the accused had done anything to her to which her friend told her what had happened.

The girl said she then approached a class 8 teacher about the incident.
