The Hurricanes traditionally struggle in Canberra and have only beaten the Brumbies five times in 19 visits to GIO Stadium in Australia.

The Hurricanes have not entered “must-win territory” yet, but they will be soon if they can’t end their Canberra hoodoo, with a difficult match against the table-topping Chiefs to follow next weekend.

Giving the Hurricanes extra incentive, a trophy named after Wellington-born solider Alfred Shout will be up for grabs during the Anzac Weekend fixture.

The Hurricanes have gone three games without a win after drawing with the Western Force and losing to the Crusaders and Blues.

They came into round 11 in seventh on the Super Rugby Pacific table, three points outside the top six.

The third-place Brumbies are riding a three-game winning streak and blanked Moana Pasifika 24-0 in their last match, last weekend.

The Brumbies are Australia’s top performing team in 2025.

Hurricanes coach, Clark Laidlaw says losing four guys to concussion last week with HIA protocols, sometimes it feels like a night club with one in, one out.

He says they can’t seem to get two or three weeks with the same group.

The Hurricanes take on the Brumbies at 9.35pm tonight. The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua take on Moana Pasifika at 4.35pm today in North Harbour while the Highlanders face the Crusaders at 7.05 tonight.
