Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s playmaker Terio Veilawa has been named as one of the top 5 performers in the recent HSBC Perth 7s over the weekend.
The 30-year-old was in vintage form in Perth producing some of the top plays in the tournament which included an incredible offload off the ground against NZ in the pool play which landed into the arms of speedster Vuiviawa Naduvalo and resulted in a try.
In the same pool match, he produced a world-class try beating up to four All Blacks, including bumping off forward Lewis Ormond, a man nearly twice his size.
Veilawa’s dummy against France in the fifth-place final was also one of the top plays where he fooled the defenders and sliced through to score a try.
Veilawa was named alongside Argentina’s Marcos Moneta and Luciano Gonzalez Rizzolo, South Africa’s Selvyn Davids, and Australia’s James Turner.
Meanwhile, Fiji is heading into the Vancouver 7s in Canada for the 3rd leg of the HSBC SVNS World Series sitting at the top of the Men’s standings with 48 points and locked with second-placed Argentina and Spain who sits in third place.
Fiji is in Pool C alongside Spain, Uruguay and the USA at the Vancouver 7s that will be held from the 22nd to the 24th of February 2025.
