17-year-old Sophia Morgan who is representing Team Fiji in sailing at the Tokyo Olympics is going through her final preparations in New Zealand.

She spent the weekend at a Youth Sailing Clinic North of Auckland in Whangaparoa.

Morgan worked on her starts and applied that to racing situations.

An update from Team Fiji says she is currently in her final preparations by organizing ropes and technical gear.

Her final training day on the water is today.

Morgan was part of Team Fiji to the 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa and also played age-group football for Rewa.

In July of 2019 Sophia, together with her teammate Nelle Leenders, placed second in the Women's Laser Class teams event at the Pacific Games in Samoa, collecting a silver medal for Fiji.

FASANOC says as the best-placed sailor from Oceania at the World Championships, Sophia qualified for the Olympic Games.

Based on her success, she was offered the opportunity to train with the New Zealand Youth Sailing Squad while completing Form 6 at Epsom Girls Grammar School in Auckland.
