Newly named Highlanders Co-Captain and former Fiji U20 utility back Timoci Tavatavanawai is honoured and privileged to be given the role of Co-Captaining the Highlanders for the 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season.
The 26-year-old has been a major success for the Highlanders since moving from Moana Pasifika, and he is one of the hardest men in New Zealand rugby to tackle or move off the ball, according to most sports media in NZ.
Tavatavanawai says he is looking forward to contributing to the team’s growth and success in any way he can.
He says he is also looking forward to working closely with his co-captain, Hugh Renton, teammates and the coaches.
Highlanders coach Jamie Joseph earlier said that Tavatavanawai embodies the qualities they are looking for their our leaders and that includes passion, commitment, and the ability to inspire others with their actions or words.
The Highlanders will take on the Crusaders on February 6th in their preseason match in Invercargill.
Meanwhile, the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua will take on the Rugby Football Club Los Angeles this Friday at 3pm in Churchill Park Lautoka in their preseason match.
The first round of the Super Rugby Pacific 2025 will kick off on the 14th of February 2025.
