Not only was it a dream come true for Fiji Airways National Men’s 7s player Kavekini Tanivanuakula after making his international 7s debut over the weekend in the HSBC Dubai 7s, but it was a sweet moment as well for him as he helped the side win their first ever Dubai 7s after 9 years and also break their 22 tournament losing streak.
The 27-year-old scored a total of 3 tries in 6 matches and hopes to get more points this weekend in the HSBC Cape Town 7s.
Tanivanuakula says he has finally achieved his goal and his dream of representing Fiji in the international arena and he acknowledged his faith in God which helped him get to where he is today.
Tanivanuakula further acknowledged coach Osea Kolinisau and his coaching staff for selecting him into the squad and adds he was not going to let them down.
He says his favourite moment was when he was holding on to the Dubai 7s trophy after the final.
He is looking ahead to the Cape Town 7s, and he just wants to take his game to another level and work on improving on the areas that he lacked in Dubai.
Tanivanuakula says he is also looking forward to setting foot in Cape Town as it will be his first time there.
Fiji is in Pool A for the Cape Town 7s alongside Uruguay and Great Britain. Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s side is in Pool D alongside Great Britain and the USA.
The Cape Town 7s will kick off this Saturday.
