Football fans will have the chance to watch their favourite former local players in action again when the Suva Masters team takes on Ba Masters this weekend in the 3rd Taito Bula Memorial Cup.
Suva Masters Vice President and former Nasinu rep, Ravinesh Murti, says part of the funds raised through sponsorships and fundraising efforts by both teams will go to the family of the late Taito Bula, a former national and Ba striker, who passed away in 2022.
Bula was a member of the national football team that made history by winning its first South Pacific Games gold medal in Lae, Papua New Guinea, in 1991.
He scored the winning goal against New Caledonia in the semi-final.
Murti says former Suva players, including Suva Football President Maretino Nemani, William Sikuri, Intiaz Khan, Lorima Batirerega, former Ba and Suva player Manoa Masi, Ronald Lawrence, Ronald Ram, Moses Bali, and former Nadroga rep Harish Bali, will also be taking the field, along with himself.
The Suva Masters team defeated Ba Masters 2-1 in 2022 and drew 1-1 last year.
The match will be held at the Ba Methodist School grounds at 3pm this Saturday.
Entry will be free.
