Excitement is definitely in the air for the Coca-Cola games this year as renowned sports commentator Satish Narain is offering cash incentives to any athlete(s) who breaks the record of Pacific Sprint King Banuve Tabakaucoro in the 100 and 200 metre events.

Narain has raised the stakes for the senior boys’ sprints by offering to award $1,000 cash, that is $500 for each of the two events.

He says this is a significant incentive for record-breaking performances in the senior boys' 100m and 200m events at the 2025 Coca-Cola Games. Narain says this offer aims to push the top sprinters to achieve their personal bests and potentially etch their names into the record books.

He adds the senior boys’ 100m and 200m races are always premier events at the Coca-Cola Games and he is looking forward to it.

Narain stresses this year’s sprint races will be blockbusting and tight competitions are expected and he believes that the finals will be decided by fractions of a second.

He says the cash offer adds another layer of intrigue to what are already expected to be must-watch events, with the 100m run on Friday evening and the 200m on Saturday afternoon. Tabakaucoro had set the current Fiji Finals’ 100m (10.43s) and 200m (21.04s) records in 2011.

Narain says Tabakaucoro has agreed to present the cash prize to the athlete(s) who breaks his record.

Day 1 of the 2025 Coca-Cola Games will begin at 7.30am tomorrow with the march past to begin at 8.20am.

The first event will begin at 10.30am tomorrow.
