Fiji Rugby Chairman John Sanday is confident that the Fiji Water Flying Fijians will repeat what they had done in the 2023 Rugby World Cup when they take on the Wallabies in Newcastle on the 6th of July.
The Flying Fijians made headlines during the World Cup after defeating the Wallabies 22-15.
Sanday says for any Tier 2 nation to get an opportunity to play against Tier 1 nations is significant, and they are looking forward to a good outing.
Flying Fijians coach Mick Byrne says this July is another great opportunity to build their performances towards the Rugby World Cup in 2027 in Australia.
He says starting their international season with a test match against Australia in Newcastle is an exciting prospect.
Byrne says they have shown tremendous improvement since the 2023 World Cup.
He adds for them, playing 80 high-quality repeated effort minutes against Tier 1 teams is their ultimate goal, which will allow them to show the exciting talent the team is building.
