The Police Blue Rugby 7s rugby teams are coming into the 49th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s competition with one goal, and that is to redeem themselves after missing out on four tournaments in the 2024/2025 Fiji Bitter Series, and falling short in the cup quarter final in last week’s Nawaka 7s.

Coach Sale Tubuna says they are in a rebuilding phase after most of their players have moved on to represent other clubs or moved on to the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s squad.

Tubuna says it was a bit hard for them to find their feet again after missing out on 4 consecutive tournaments, but they managed to do so last week, and they are looking to see it through this weekend.

He says this year’s Super Pool matches are tough, and they are taking one game at a time.

Tubuna says his team has done their homework, and they are looking forward to coming back stronger this week.

Police Blue will line up against current Fiji Bitter Series leaders Viti Roofing Babas later tonight in one of the anticipated games of the Super Pool matches.

Tubuna further says Devo Babas will be a team to watch in this year’s Marist 7s, but they are ready for the threat.

Police Blue are unbeaten so far after edging Tabadamu 7-5 in the first match and then beating DXC Army 19-5 in the Super Round pool match.

In other matches so far in ground 1, Devo Babas edged TEMC Warriors 12-5, Bula Ballers Vatukuro defeated TEMC Naboutini 17-10, Viwa Rugby defeated Raviravi Rugby 10-0, Bula Ballers Tako Lavo defeated Plantation Island Resort 19-7, Kavala Babas thumped Lami Rugby 20-0, Ratu Filise defeated Vanuavou Stingray Brothers 17-5, and Police White defeated Bilolevu Wainimala 10-0.

The Women’s semi finals are underway, with the final expected to be played at 7.35 tonight.
