Fiji boxer Nathan Singh

Fiji boxer Nathan Singh has announced his retirement from boxing after this year and plans to shift his focus to building his career as a nutritionist.

He says there’s life after boxing and he has seen boxers today having nothing and are still trying to build their houses as they are in their 30s and 50s and are struggling to live a stable life. He says his family understands that there’s life after boxing and is supporting him as he focuses on his business with his wife and 2 children and has chosen a path of becoming a nutritionist.

Singh says he has been boxing for almost 20 years now and has been focused on doing the same thing over and over again and now wants to switch to where he can make money and have a good career.

He says ever since he started his boxing career he was not interested in fighting for the Fiji belts as he believes it has no value.

He further says before his retirement his local fights will be against Mohammad Ali in March, Mikaele Ravolaca, and Ratu Rakuro Daunivavana.

He says he has fought more quality opponents than anyone has in Fiji and even though he does not have any belts in terms of rating, other boxers may not match his boxing abilities where his elder brother has also inspired him.

Singh says he wants to help boxers get out of poverty and will train the youths in the academy and work as a nutritionist.

The Singh and Ali bout is set for the 2nd of March at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva under the Bluewater Boxing Promotions.
