Swire Shipping Fijian Drua flyhalf Caleb Muntz

Swire Shipping Fijian Drua flyhalf Caleb Muntz is excited about the competition from his teammates in the first five-eighth position.

During an interview with fijivillage News, Muntz says it has been a long time since Fiji has had this kind of depth in the flyhalf position.

Muntz says this depth has also brought out the best in the players at training.

He says it has also made them compete hard against each other and puts a lot of pressure on them in every training session.

The Rava, Savusavu man says for him personally, he is loving the challenge provided by other flyhalves in the team and he is just looking to put his best foot forward and earn his right in the position.

The 24-year-old was part of the Fiji Water Flying Fijians squad that was preparing for the Rugby World Cup in France last year but unfortunately was ruled out before the start of the tournament due to an injury suffered before the tournament.

Muntz says he is progressing well with his recovery and he is excited about getting back on the field.

He says he is expected to be back playing in the middle or towards the end of the 2024 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season.

The Fijian Drua will play their last pre-season match this Friday against the Melbourne Rebels at 5.30pm in Melbourne. They will play the Blues next Saturday at 3.35pm in Auckland in their first Super Rugby Pacific match this year.
