Dreams have come true for 26-year-old Olympic silver medallist and former Kombat Uluinakau captain Ponipate Loganimasi who has signed with the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua for the 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season.

Loganimasi will join Paris Olympic teammates Iosefo Masi and Selestino Ravutaumada.

The Drua says the 26-year-old made an immediate impact in his debut for the national 15’s side by scoring two tries in the Pacific Nations Cup final against Japan.

They say Loganimasi joined the Fiji Water Flying Fijians after Ravutaumada’s injury in the tournament’s first round.

Hailing from Ono-i-Lau with maternal links to Nabua in Savusavu, Loganimasi scored a remarkable 35 tries during his short stint with the Fijian 7’s team in the 2023-2024 World Series campaign before winning silver at the Paris Olympics.

The Drua says Loganimasi also played at the McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s tournament, featuring for the Fiji Babaas team.

He first made his appearance in the local competition at the Nawaka 7s last year, captaining the Kombat Uluinakau team.

Loganimasi, who is equally adept at outside back in 15s rugby, says he is excited to join the Fijian Drua and can’t wait to make his Super Rugby Pacific debut.

He says he want to thank the Lord for the opportunity and he knows it’s not a small opportunity as it is a big one.

He further says he knows a lot of kids in Fiji dream about playing for the Drua team and he is so blessed to be given the chance.

Loganimasi adds he also want to thank the Drua management for trusting him and he can’t wait to start training with the boys.

Fijian Drua Head Coach Glen Jackson says he think it means a lot for the Fijian Drua and it shows the quality of players that we’re signing.

He says Loganimasi’s debut with the 15’s team was unbelievable.

Jackson adds that they know how good he is on the sevens circuit and that he thinks Loganimasi is going to be an extremely positive new recruit for our club.

Loganimasi is the fifth Flying Fijian signed by the Drua in this off-season, continuing an impressive recruitment drive which earlier secured the likes of internationals like Joseva Tamani, Peni Ravai, Inia Tabuavou and Vuate Karawalevu.
