Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s coach Osea Kolinisau will use the McDonald’s Fiji’s Coral Coast 7s competition that is currently underway at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka to test the team’s combination before they head out for the HSBC Perth 7s next week.
Kolinisau says the bigger picture for them is the Perth 7s and the HSBC World SVNS Series and that's something they want to focus on.
He adds he wants to gauge the team’s understanding of their defensive shape, how they are good at one-on-one tackling and most importantly the players’ decision-making on knowing what to do in the field and learning to play what's in front of them and working hard.
Kolinisau will be naming his final squad for the Perth 7s after the Coral Coast 7s tournament this weekend.
Fiji will take on Uruguay at 3.22pm next Friday in their first pool match, they will then take on Kenya at 7.59pm Friday before playing New Zealand at 4.22pm next Saturday in their final pool match.
The Men’s Cup quarter finals will kick off at 9.27pm next Saturday, the semi finals will be at 7.05pm Sunday and the cup final will kick off at 11.35pm.
The Fijiana 7s will take on the USA at 4.06pm next Friday in their first pool match, they will then play Canada at 8.21pm Friday before playing Great Britain at 6.19pm next Saturday in their final pool match.
The Women’s cup quarter finals will kick off at 12.02am Sunday, the cup semi finals will start at 7.49pm Sunday and the cup final will kick off at 12.11am Monday.
