It was a dream come true for Swire Shipping Fijian Drua outside back Isikeli Rabitu when he joined the club last season, knowing that he would be rubbing shoulders against some of his rugby idols that he used to watch on television growing up.
The former Suva Grammar School student says when he joined the main squad from the development squad, he was excited and it took him quite sometime to come to terms with the reality of training alongside some of world’s class players.
Rabitu joined the Fijian Drua Development squad in 2023 after representing the Fiji Under 20s in Gold Coast that same year.
The Tailevu man says growing up, he used to watch the Super Rugby competition and he used to bet on the Crusaders.
He says to finally be part of the Drua and playing in the Super Rugby Pacific competition, it is something that he will cherish as it is a big achievement for him in his rugby career.
The 19-year-old says he has set his target to get more game time this season and also improve on the areas that he lacked last year.
The Fijian Drua is expected to be returning to pre-season training next week for the new season of the Super Rugby Pacific season that kicks off next month.
The Drua’s opening match will be at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, where they will host the Brumbies at 3.35pm on the 15th of next month.
