Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s coach, Ben Gollings

After 18 tournament losses, Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s coach, Ben Gollings says he is not going to say that he has failed but he thinks every day he learns, adapts and looks at ways he can do better from his side as a coach.

Those were the words of Gollings when asked by fijivillage News about where he thinks he has failed as a coach.

Gollings says for him, he can control what he can control and try and develop while some things are out of his hands and says getting the network and support of the team is important and the coaching staff are now providing something for the team that is going to give them the best platform to perform

When asked about what things are out of his hands, Gollings says he has the team in his hands and everything outside of that is out of his control.

Gollings went on to say that if he is worried about the calls that people have been making about him stepping down as a coach, then he is not doing his job.

He says his job is to do what he is assigned to do and says he can’t control what people write on social media criticising him for not doing his work.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Men’s and Women’s National 7s teams are psyching up for this weekend’s Los Angeles 7s that kicks off this Saturday.

The Fiji Men will play Great Britain at 2.54pm Saturday in their first pool match, they will then take on Canada at 5.30am Sunday, before playing France at 10.22am Sunday in their last pool match. The men’s cup quarter finals will kick off at 3.26pm Sunday, the semi finals will be at 10.08am Monday and the final will be at 2.32pm Monday. The Fijiana 7s will take on Brazil at 1.14pm Saturday in their first pool match, they will then play South Africa at 8.26am Sunday, before playing New Zealand at 1.24pm Sunday in their final pool match. The women’s cup quarter finals will kick off at 6.14am Monday, the semi finals will begin at 9.24am Monday and the final will be at 1.43pm Monday.
