As the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific competition heads into round 8 this week, Swire Shipping Fijian Drua coach Glen Jackson is trying to make sure that he is not under any visible pressure and also not to put a lot of pressure on the players as it will not be helpful.
With the Drua securing only 1 win so far this season and sitting at the bottom of the table, Jackson says the season is running out and they have got to make sure that they are picking up points.
He says the Drua have got a good home run, and with five home games left, they need to make sure that they start well this weekend.
When asked by fijivillage Sports about how much work has been done on the players’ mental preparation to prevent distractions to them leading up to game day, Jackson says it is the coaches and management’s job to deal with these young athletes, young men who are just hungry to perform in front of the crowd.
Meanwhile, a moment of silence will be observed for VITIFM’s iconic personality, Maikeli Radua, before the Drua vs Crusaders match kicks off.
The Drua will play the Crusaders at 3.35pm Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
In other matches this week, the Chiefs will take on the Reds at 6.05pm tomorrow, Moana Pasifika will host the Waratahs at 1.05pm Saturday, the Blues will take on the Hurricanes at 6.05pm Saturday, and the Force will play the Highlanders at 8.35pm Saturday.
