Vodafone Fiji Bati and outgoing Penrith Panthers’ winger Sunia Turuva has made it clear that he is not leaving the Panthers without a second NRL Premiership ring.

The 22-year-old will join the West Tigers next year with teammate Jerome Luai while front-rower James Fisher-Harris will join the NZ Warriors.

Turuva says they are embracing that last ride with the Panthers and they are not leaving without a ring.

The reigning Dally M Rookie of the Year has endured an up-and-down season this year and had to be dropped to reserve grade where he helped them sneak into the top five.

Turuva says he accepted coach Ivan Cleary’s call to drop him so he could fix up some defensive issues that had crept into his game.

He said when he went back to playing in the NSW Cup competition, they were still fighting for a top-five spot, so he just had to play his part for the team and he was glad that everything worked out the way that it did.

He adds he has had a few tough games this year, but he is glad that coach Cleary backed him and gave him the call to come back up.

Turuva is expected to line up this week for the Panthers when they take on the Sharks at 9.50pm Saturday in the second preliminary final.

In the first preliminary final, the Storm will take on the Roosters at 9.50pm tomorrow.
