Former Queen Victoria School headboy and under-18 captain Tomasi Seru made his French Top 14 debut for La Rochelle in their 37-7 loss to Bayonne this morning.
The 20-year-old joined the club from the Kaiviti Silktails Rugby League side that is participating in the NSWRL Cup competition.
Seru was named on the bench and came on in the 40th minute of the match.
Meanwhile, Fiji Water Flying Fijians outside back Sireli Maqala displayed a man-of-the-match performance today for his Bayonne side as he scored a try to help his side secure the win.
Maqala started at outside centre and was ruthless in attack as he ran 113 metres in 13 carries, making 3 line breaks and beating 2 defenders.
Bayonne also had the services of Flying Fijians prop Luke Tagi who came off the bench in the 50th minute.
In other Top 14 matches this morning, Racing 92 defeated Toulon 22-6, Bordeaux thrashed Perpignan 66-12, Montpellier edged Vannes 26-24, Pau defeated Castres 33-26 and Toulouse thumped Clermont 48-14.
