Despite the financial challenges, Sila Central High School athletes coming into the Coca-Cola Triple N Zone are still giving their all on the tracks and also field events as they try not to let this challenge deter their spirits.
After scooping gold in the Senior Boys 200 metres final, Sila Central’s Samisoni Leleca says they used these financial constraints as a motivation for them coming into this two-day event.
Leleca says their preparations were met with challenges but they did not let those challenges get them down.
He acknowledged the support from some of the old scholars who helped with some of their expenses in their preparations.
Leleca is calling out to all supporters and old scholars to come out in numbers and support them in their preparations for the Coca-Cola Games in two weeks.
Leleca also won gold in the senior boys’ 400 metres final yesterday.
Adi Cakobau School and Leland Memorial School continue their lead in the girls and boys medal tallies respectively.
ACS now has 8 gold, 5 silver and 7 bronze, followed by Naitasiri Secondary School with 2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze, while Lomaivuna High School is in third place with 2 gold and 2 silver.
