There is great news for rugby fans around the country as the Fijian Drua have been confirmed for next year’s historic Super Rugby Pacific competition which kicks off in February.

The Drua will be joined by the Crusaders, Blues, Chiefs, Highlanders, Hurricanes, Melbourne Rebels, Brumbies, NSW Waratahs, Queensland Reds, Western Force and the Moana Pasifika.

Fiji Rugby Union CEO John O’Connor says they are thrilled to see a format that offers all participating teams a fair shot at the playoffs.

O’Connor has also expressed gratitude to New Zealand Rugby and Rugby Australia for making Fiji's Super Rugby dreams come true.

He says they will repay the steadfast faith shown by their partners by bringing high octane flair and skills that are uniquely Fijian to Super Rugby Pacific. O’Connor adds they eagerly look forward to announcing the next milestones in their journey which will include assembling a squad of players who will light up the competition and delight fans every week.

FRU will announce soon where the Fijian Drua’s home matches will be played.

Looking at the format of the competition, each team will play 14 regular season matches with every side hosting seven matches.

There will be one points table with teams ranked one to 12 based on competition points.

The top eight teams on the points table will qualify for a three-week playoff format.
