With the HSBC Perth 7s kicking off next Friday, the Fiji Airways Fiji Men’s 7s side has a huge task on hand and that is to defend their top spot in the current 2024/2025 HSBC SVNS World Series standings.
After the conclusion of the first leg in December last year where they managed to break their losing streak and scoop the Dubai 7s followed by a 3rd place finish in the Cape Town 7s, Fiji now sits at the top with 36 points.
Fiji is in Pool C in the upcoming Perth 7s alongside NZ, Kenya and Uruguay, and it will not be an easy task as well for them to get out of the pool stages, especially with Uruguay and Kenya showing what they are capable of in the past few tournaments, and NZ looking for redemption after 4th place and 5th place finishes in the Dubai and Cape Town 7s respectively.
Spain currently sits in second place in the Men’s standings with 32 points while France is in 3rd place with 30 points.
NZ sits at the top of the Women’s standings with 38 points, Australia is in second place with 34 points WHILE France is in third place with 32 points.
The Fiji Men’s 7s will take on Uruguay at 3.22pm next Friday in their first pool match, they will then take on Kenya at 7.59pm Friday before playing New Zealand at 4.22pm next Saturday in their final pool match.
The Men’s Cup quarter finals will kick off at 9.27pm next Saturday, the semi finals will be at 7.05pm Sunday and the cup final will kick off at 11.35pm.
The Fijiana 7s will take on the USA at 4.06pm next Friday in their first pool match, they will then play Canada at 8.21pm Friday before playing Great Britain at 6.19pm next Saturday in their final pool match.
The Women’s cup quarter finals will kick off at 12.02am Sunday, the cup semi finals will start at 7.49pm Sunday and the cup final will kick off at 12.11am Monday.
