Canterbury Bulldogs General Manager of Football Phil Gould has commented on rumours that Australian Kangaroos and Bulldogs star Josh Addo-Carr has played his final match for the club.

Ever since Addo-Carr failed two roadside drug tests, which ruled him out of the 2024 NRL Finals, there have been rumours that he may have played his final match for the club, as his future at the Bulldogs remains uncertain.

Gould says that it is too early to tell, but has not shut down the rumours insisting that the decision regarding Addo-Carr's future will be in the best long-term interest of the club.

He says at the moment there is a process to go through and Addo-Carr has to front the NRL Integrity Unit this week.

He adds at the end of the day he will come up with a decision on what he thinks the future of Addo-Carr and the club should be as a partnership and he will take that to the board and discuss it with the people that count.

Gould says they may or may not take my recommendation, they may have another point of view but they will discuss it and at the end of the day, they will do what they think is in the best long-term interest of the club.

He says he believes Addo-Carr is still protesting his innocence but at the end of the day it is in his system and he needs to work out how to explain that to the people that count, sooner or later.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs fell short 24-22 to the Manly Sea Eagles in the last NRL quarter final last weekend.

In the semi finals this weekend, the Sharks will play the Cowboys at 9.50pm Friday and the Roosters will take on the Sea Eagles at 9.50pm Saturday.
