Arsenal defeated Brighton 4-2 and are going into the New Year top of the English Premier League table after solidifying their place.
Brighton attempted to stage a dramatic comeback in the match that was quenched by VAR, who cancelled Brighton’s third goal for offside in the 90th minute of the game.
Bukayo Saka scored the early opener for Arsenal in the second minute, captain Martin Odegaard doubled the scoreline in the 39th minute and Brighton’s Billy Gilmour put a goal at the back of the net for his side just at the edge of halftime, 45′.
Arsenal came back strong in the second half with Eddie Nketiah netting one for his team just after halftime and Gabriel Martinelli making it four for the Gunners with a superb strike in the 71st minute.
In other matches this morning, Manchester United beat Wolves 1-0, the match between Manchester City and Everton finished in a 1-all draw, Crystal Palace beat Bournemouth 2-0 while the match between Newcastle and Leeds finished in a 1-all draw.
