Team Fiji swimmer David Tolu Young has already set his sights for the next Olympics where he is hoping to compete for medals.
Young won his heat and set a new National record of 22.71 seconds in the Men’s 50 metres freestyle.
His previous record was 22.87 seconds set at the 2023 World Aquatic Championships in Fukuoka, Japan.
He finished 40th out of 73 swimmers.
Young says right now he will be heading back to the US where he is based for school and training.
He says the atmosphere at the Paris Olympics 2024 is a lot more intense and loud as they are surrounded by so many elite athletes.
While comparing his performance at the Pacific Games to the Olympics, Young says his execution was better in Paris overall.
China is leading the Olympic tally with 11 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze followed by France with 8 gold, 11 silver and 8 bronze, Japan is third with 8 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze while Australia is fourth with 7 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze.
