World Rugby Chairman Brett Robinson has revealed details about the new Nations Championship, a global men’s competition that will include Fiji and Japan alongside top-tier rugby nations.
Robertson says ongoing negotiations involve the SANZAAR nations, Six Nations, Japan Rugby Football Union, and Fiji to finalize the competition structure.
He says the Nations Championship will have two conferences, a European Conference with Six Nations teams and a Rest of the World Conference with SANZAAR nations and invited teams, including Japan and Fiji.
The competition will start in 2026, with a grand final and a second-tier Challenger Series beginning in 2030.
