The Fiji Men’s and Women’s 7s Teams arrived in Nadi this morning after taking part in the Paris Olympics, with the Men’s team returning with a silver medal while the women’s team coming off a dismal performance in France.
Both teams were welcomed by Minister of Youth and Sports Jese Sakuru and their family members, who came in numbers to wait for the players in Nadi.
The players were all in high spirits as they were welcomed by a choir singing songs with Men’s 7s Coach Osea Kolinisau leading the contingent.
Saukuru had earlier mentioned that the Cabinet has approved incentives where an athlete who win gold at the Paris Olympics will be awarded $50,000, $20,000 for silver medalists and $10,000 will be awarded to bronze medalists.
