It has been endorsed in the Fiji Rugby Union Special General Meeting that the same format of the Deans and Kaji Rugby competitions 2019 will be used this year.

FRU CEO John O’Connor says they have agreed that for Kaji Rugby, they will have a tag rugby competition for Under 7 to Under 14 categories in the first school term provided approval is given by Ministry of Education.

O’Connor says in Term 2, they will continue the tag rugby competition for Under 7 to Under 11 categories.

He says they will also start with contact rugby for Under 12 to 14 but they need to have discussions with Fiji Kaji Rugby Union and Ministry of Education.

O’Connor says they will also need approval from the Education Ministry for the Vodafone Deans Competition to take place.

Education Minister, Rosy Akbar had said they have to meet with organisers and sponsors to decide whether sporting competitions for schools including the Coca-Cola Games and Deans competition will be held this year.

Akbar says they also do not want to deprive students of these important events as they missed out on it last year.
