It has been four months after Cyclone Evan hit Fiji and the memories are still fresh in the minds of the Xavier College athletes ahead of the Coca Cola Games next week.

Xavier Head Coach Abdul Shah said some athletes went through tough times after the cyclone but this can help them achieve better results at the Coke Games.

Last year Xavier stole the show in the Intermediate boy’s high jump where Malakai Kaiwalu became the first athlete in the history of the Games to jump a height of two meters in the Intermediate grade.

Kaiwalu broke the old record set by FM 96 breakfast show host Antonio Rahiman which stood at 1.96 meters.

Kaiwalu is no longer with the school as he has joined a tertiary institution.

The Ba based school will field 50 athletes for the Coke Games.

Xavier College finished third in the overall boy’s division last year with 3 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze.

The Coca Cola Games will be held next Thursday and Friday at the ANZ Stadium.
