Xavier College of Ba is the new champion of the 2018 Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Soccer Championship after beating Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School 2-0 in the U19 grade final at Prince Charles Park.
Ba soccer team midfielder Simione Nabenu and Iliesa Qata scored the goals for Xavier College in the second half.
While speaking to Fijivillage Nabenu credited the win to the whole team.
This is the first time Xavier College has won the Secondary Schools title.
Xavier College received a prize money of $1,200 while Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School got $600.
It was also a great achievement for Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School to have reached the final having qualified for the championship for the first time and only having a roll of 147.
Meanwhile, Tavua College has won the U-17 title beating Labasa Muslim College 5-4 on penalties.
Both teams were locked nil all at full time.
In the U-15 Grade final, Xavier College defeated Labasa College 4-2.
Vunimono High School won the Girls Open Grade final beating Xavier College 4-3 in penalty shootouts.
