World Rugby has confirmed that South African referee Jaco Peyper was not considered by the match officials selection committee for the Rugby World Cup semifinals.

This, after a controversial photo showing Peyper posing for a photo with Wales fans and mimicking the elbow that led to French player Sebastien Vahaamahina's quarterfinal red card.

World Rugby says Peyper recognized that a picture of him with Wales fans, which appeared on social media after the Wales versus France quarterfinal, was inappropriate and he has apologized.

Nigel Owens will referee the All Blacks' Rugby World Cup semifinal against England while Jérôme Garcès will take charge of South Africa's clash with Wales.

The All Blacks will face England at 8pm this Saturday in the first semifinal while Wales will take on South Africa at 9pm this Sunday in the second semifinal.
