The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s Coach, Gareth Baber says the team will need to be more ruthless in their defence when they will participate in the Cape Town 7s this week.

Speaking from South Africa, Baber says they know as a team that they have let down the country for their performance in the opening tournament in Dubai.

Baber says the challenge now is for them to retain their Cape Town 7s title.

He says losing is part of rugby and sometimes the players have a disappointing performance where they do not play to the standard that they have been preparing for.

Fiji is the defending champion of the Cape Town 7s.

We will open our campaign against USA at 6.35am this Saturday, we take on South Africa in our second pool match at 12.51am Sunday while our final pool match against Japan is at 6.35 am Sunday.

The Cup quarterfinals start at 10.18 pm Sunday while the Cup semifinals kick off at 1.39 am next Monday.

The Cup final will kick off at 5.56 am next Monday.

The Fiji Men’s 7s Team is currently in 9th place on the HSBC World 7s Series standings with 8 points.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team take on Russia at 2.28 am this Saturday in their first pool match.

They will face New Zealand in their second pool match at 9.35 pm Saturday and play South Africa in their last pool match at 3.03 am Sunday.

The Fijiana 7s Team is in 8th place with 10 points on the HSBC World 7s Series Women’s standings.
