Australian rugby’s sorry story slumped even lower on Saturday night as the Waratahs recorded their lowest home crowd attendance in their 25-year history.
Never in their history have the Waratahs had less than 10,000 people watch a home game.
But that marker was easily broken at Newcastle’s McDonald Jones Stadium, with just 7,491 watching on as the Waratahs suffered their fifth straight defeat to the Blues, going down 32-12.
The disappointing crowd followed the Brumbies’ poor turnout on Friday night, where just 7,098 watched the Brumbies beat the Rebels 39-26.
