A first‑half try from George North and points from the boots Dan Biggar and Leigh Halfpenny were enough for the win.
Having gone down 33‑19 in London last Sunday, Wales brought more intensity and line speed for the return fixture and their reward is moving to the top of the rankings for the first time in their history.
Wales is pooled with Australia, Fiji, Georgia and Uruguay.
Wales will take on Georgia on the 23rd of next month at 11.15pm in their first match of the Rugby World Cup.
The Rugby World Cup will be held from the 20th of next month to the 2nd of November.
