Wairiki 7s to be staged to combat non-communicable diseases

To combat non-communicable diseases and help youths stay fit during the festive season, Wairiki Village in the Province of Bua will hold the Wairiki Rugby 7s tournament.

Organiser, Jone Turaganiqila says during the festive, most youths consume a lot of yaqona and alcohol which are two main contributors to NCD’s.

He says there is still space left for teams who wish to participate in the Under 19 competition and also the Men’s competition.

Some teams that have registered for the Wairiki 7s is Nabouwalu, Navuinievu, River Rise, Vuya, Nagadoa and Nasole.

The winner of the Under 19 competition will receive $800 while the winner of the Men’s competition will be $1,000 richer this Christmas.

The Wairiki 7s will be held next Friday and Saturday at Wairiki Ground in Bua.
