Verekauta Wins Silver at Aust U23 Championships

Fiji athlete Niko Verekauta won a silver medal at the Australian Under 23 and Under 20 championships in Gold Coast yesterday.

Verekauta who still stand a chance to qualify for the Beijing Olympics won the silver medal in the 200 meters final after finishing his race in a time of 21.21 seconds.

Verekauta was also scheduled to compete in the 400 meters final but pulled out because of a hamstring injury incurred in the 200 meters final.
