The 2018 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships ended on a high note last night as Japan got their first gold medal of the in the women’s 200 metres breaststroke and New Zealand got on the podium for winning bronze in the men’s 50 metres freestyle.
USA finished top of the overall medal tally with 24 gold, 19 silver and 8 bronze, Australia in second place with 4 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze and in third place is Canada with 2 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze.
Japan settled for fourth place, China in fifth place and New Zealand in sixth place.
Lani Pallister of team Australia set a new record in the women’s 1500 metres freestyle setting a new record of 16:08.09 while in the Women’s 400 metres medley relay, USA set a new record of 4:02.33.
Fijian swimmers struggled to keep up in the competition at the Damodar Aquatic centre.
