The San Francisco Bay area will host the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens after the World Rugby Council awarded the hosting rights to USA Rugby.
The magnificent Giants Stadium in San Francisco, supported by Avaya Stadium in San Jose, will provide an impressive stage for the world's top men's and women's sevens rugby players to showcase their talent ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The competition dates will be revealed in due course.
A major tourism and sports location with a strong rugby community, the San Francisco Bay area has superb facilities that will ensure that the 24 men’s and 16 women's teams have everything that they require in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Dublin and Belfast will host Women’s Rugby World Cup 2017 after World Rugby awarded the hosting rights for the prestigious tournament to the IRFU.
With women’s rugby continuing to experience record global growth, the pool stages will be held at University College Dublin, before the world’s top female rugby players convene in Belfast for the semi‑finals and positional play‑offs at Queen's University Sport and Ravenhill.
Women’s Rugby World Cup is being brought forward by one year to 2017 to maximise synergy with the Olympic Games and Rugby World Cup Sevens cycles for the world’s top female players.
The event will return to a four‑year cycle after 2017.
Meanwhile Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan says former national playmaker William Ryder could have a chance to be in the team if he trains hard and proves himself.
Ryan tweeted this as he was asked by some fans on whether Ryder has a chance to get into the team.
Fiji will play Argentina at 9.06pm Saturday, they face Samoa at 12.12am Sunday and Canada at 3.18am.
