Tulo placed overall 8th at the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games

Team Fiji Weightlifter Manueli Tulo managed a total lift of 240kg to be placed overall eighth at the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Turkmenistan this morning.

Tulo's official result was a snatch of 105kg, a clean & jerk lift of 135kg for a total lift of 240kg.

The Ovalau lifter weighed in at 55.72kg and was competing in the 56kg category.

Tulo faced stiff competition from some of Asia's best including three‑time World Championship medalist Vietnamese Thach Kim Tuan who won gold with a combined lift of 282kg and China's youth champion Jia Xionghui who won bronze with a combined lift of 269 kg.

Meanwhile Della Shaw is making a mark as an international Weightlifting Technical Official, having been selected by the International Weightlifting Federation to officiate at the Games. 

Della headed the Judges Panel for the Men's 56kg category which featured Tulo.
