Team Fiji won four gold medals at the Pacific Games yesterday.
It was a double gold medal in the Rugby League 9s competition as the Men’s and Women’s teams beat Papua New Guinea to win the gold medals.
Robert Elder won gold medal in the Men's Recurve Archery event at the Pacific Games in Samoa.
Elder won the men's recurve with 986 while Tahiti took silver and bronze.
Meanwhile, in the Women’s Compound Competition, Fiji’s Lisa Leota had to settle for silver as New Caledonia won gold while Samoa got bronze.
Fredrick Leota settled for bronze in the Men’s competition as New Caledonia completed a gold and silver double.
Taichi Vakasama won a Gold in the Men’s 200metres Breaststroke yesterday while the swimming team also bagged two silver and two bronze medals.
Meanwhile, looking at today’s events, the Fiji Men’s Soccer team will be up against American Samoa at 9am today. They began their quest to win gold with a 2-1 win over Tahiti on Monday.
The Fiji Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams will also be in action today. The Women’s team will take on New Caledonia at 11 while the Men’s team takes on Solomon Islands at 3.30pm.
Looking at swimming, our swimmers are expected to take part in the 50 metres Backstroke, 400 metres Individual Medley and 100 metres butterfly.
Robert Elder who won gold in Archery yesterday will also be in action today.
Looking at the Medal Tally, Fiji is in third place with 4 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze.
New Caledonia is in first place with 8 gold, 7 silver and 6 bronze while Tahiti is in second place with 4 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze.
