Taichi Vakasama ends swimming drought for Fiji at Pacific Games 2019

Swimmer Taichi Vakasama on Tuesday night broke a 16-year drought for the Men’s Swimming team at the Pacific Games.

Vakasama became the first male swimmer after Carl Probert since 2003 to win an individual gold medal at the Pacific Games.

He won gold in the Men’s 200metres Breaststroke with a time of 2.14.98.

Last night , Cheyenne Rova got a silver medal in the Women’s 50 metres Backstroke final while Netani Ross also scooped a silver medal in the Men’s 50 metres Backstroke final.

In the Women’s  400 metres  Individual Medley, Rosemarie Rova finished third for a bronze medal, while the Women’s 4x200metres Freestyle Relay team also settled for bronze.

The Men’s 4x200metres Freestyle Relay team settled for bronze.

The Fiji Lawn Bowls team won 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze in today’s competition at the Pacific Games in Samoa.

Litia Tikoisuva won gold in the women’s lawn bowls singles.

Fiji also won gold in the men’s lawn bowls triples.

In the men’s lawn bowls pairs, Fiji took the silver medal.

A bronze medal also came for Team Fiji in the women’s lawn bowls fours competition.

The Fiji Badminton Mixed team has won gold in the competition at the Pacific Games in Samoa.

New Caledonia took silver while Tahiti settled for bronze.

Looking at the Medal Tally, Fiji is in third place with 7 gold, 9 silver and 11 bronze.

New Caledonia is in first place with 15 gold, 14 silver and 10 bronze while Tahiti is second with 10 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze.
